Early life

Moishe grew up in the Hatikva neighborhood of Tel Aviv, the second of five children in a poor family, with parents who were Iraqi-born real estate brokers. He studied law at Tel Aviv University for a year, but dropped out.

Moishe moved to New York City in 1983. His first job was as a dishwasher in the Village. After he saved enough money, he bought his first van and launched his 'A Man with a Van' moving company. A couple of years later, this company evolved into Moishe's Moving and Storage. In the late 1980s, Moishe's Moving became the largest moving company in the tri-state area. The storage portion of the company eventually splintered off into document storage, and Mana launched GRM Information Management which he has built into the third largest document and digital storage company in the US. He has ventured into several other niche storage businesses such as mini storage, art storage, inventory management, wine storage, and others.

In the US, he founded Moishe's Moving Systems which by 1990 had become the largest independent moving company in New York City. By 1995, it was the largest in the tri-state area. In a widely reported, New York City "Rags to Riches" story, Moishe Mana began as a "man with a van." Today, Moishe's Moving owns a conglomerate of 15 companies including Moishe's Guarantee Asset Management, Mana Fine Arts, Moishe's Guarantee Wine Storage, GRM Document Management, Moishe's Self Storage and Moishe's Mobile Storage.Milk Studios New York has been and continues to be instrumental in the fashion industry and the development of many up and coming fashion designers.

In 1995, Mana became known as a pioneer in the Meatpacking District, where he converted one of his mini storage facility's into Milk Studios, an enterprise serving the fashion, advertising, technology and film industries.

Later Mana began to collect contemporary art. He then went on to develop and open Mana Contemporary complex on 35 acres in Jersey City, New Jersey. In 2009, he expanded his operations and his real estate holdings to consist of over 12M square feet of logistics warehouses and land development in major cities. He assembled 2M square feet of abandoned warehouses in Jersey City alone, and converted this assemblage into a vibrant arts community called Mana Contemporary. This was the beginning of the transformation of Jersey City. He unified the art industry, collectors, artists, legacy libraries, art schools, fashion, photography, and music--in one neighborhood.

Also in 2009, Mana took on the challenge of transforming Miami from a tourist destination into a vibrant, diversified city with art, fashion, technology, and a global trading hub that will connect South America, the Far East, and North America. Currently Mana is developing a large scale mixed residential, business and art complex in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, Florida. The proposed development, to be named Mana Wynwood has garnered controversy related to its size. However it also been reported that the plan could bring upwards of 30,000 jobs to the district.

Mana has assembled over 40 acres in Wynwood, where he plans to build a 10M square foot hub that will facilitate all trade between the Far East, South America and North America. This development project includes a 300,000 square foot Mana Contemporary facility and other facilities that will serve the creative industries such as fashion, technology, and entertainment. The complex is designed to have over 3M square feet of showrooms and future corporate global headquarters, in one neighborhood. The complex will also host banking, agriculture, global manufacturers, and other diversified industries, all of which will be backed by digital platforms. His intention is to develop Miami into a Mini Hong Kong due to its location and its international fabric.

Mana is also pursuing another project within Miami, named Mana Common, which will be located in the Flagler District of Downtown Miami. This development consists of over 50 assembled buildings.
